Broccoli Seeds
De Cicco. Open-Pollinated. Old reliable European variety, 2-3
feet tall light green plants. Small main heads followed by many side
shoots. Harvest main head when about 3 inches to encourage side shoot
production. Good for spring or fall crop. Non-uniform in maturity,
more variable and more productive than hybrids, excellent quality. 48
days.
Green Sprouting Calabrese. Certified Organic. Standard Calabrese type,
large blue-green cauliflower-like central heads, good side shoot production, for
bunching and home gardens, early heavy producer. 60-90 days.
Raab. Rapini. Italian heirloom broccoli. The tender stems,
buds, and flowers have a wonderfully delicate slightly bitter/spicy/peppery
broccoli flavor which can be enjoyed in salads, stir-fried, or steamed. Likes
cool weather so sow the seeds in the very early spring or wait until late summer
for a fall crop. Harvest just before the flowers open. Also known as asparagus
broccoli. 45 days.
Waltham. Open-pollinated. Compact stocky 20 inch plants.
High yields of compact, dark blue-green, well rounded, medium
large heads with small buds. The best variety for Fall planting
because it withstands cold. 80 days Spring, or 135 days Fall.
