Black Beauty Eggplant. Produces 3 to 5 dark purple,
egg-shaped fruits that weigh from 1 to 3 lbs. each. Fruits are
delicious and keep well. 80 days.
Long Purple Eggplant. Open-pollinated, dark purple,
productive Italian type. Ideal for slicing and frying. Fruits are 8
inches long by 2-1/2 inches in diameter. Plants are tall and upright
with 4 or more fruits per plant. 75 days.
Batavian Broad Leaf Endive. This is truly one of the finest
vegetables for crisp, delicious salads. The thick, buttery leaves are
tender and have a distinctive flavor. The solid cluster of inner
leaves blanches to creamy white.
Birdhouse. Requires a long growing season. To form a gourd that will sit upright on its base you should set them upright while they are young and still growing. Once the gourds are dry you can use them for birdhouses, canteens and other crafts.
Luffa. Sponge Gourd. Grow your own sponge for exfoliating and cleaning your skin, scrubbing dishes, and cleaning the barbecue grill. When harvested between 4 and 6 inches long, they are a sweet, tasty vegetable that can be stir fried, sautéed, or cooked with meats just as you would zucchini squash or okra. Can also be sliced or diced in a salad like a cucumber. Gourd seeds can be roasted and young flowers and foliage can be cooked as a green. 110 days.
Red Russian. Dark green oak leaf cut leaves. Red and purple
hues intensify after fall frosts. May be richer in vitamins and
minerals than other greens. Turns to tender and sweet rich dark green
kale when cooked. Also good raw. Very disease resistant. 50 days.
Siberian. Fast growing and extremely hardy. Huge blue green
slightly curled feather shaped leaves on 12-16 inch spreading plants.
Light frost improves tenderness and flavor. The most popular variety
for the South. 65 days.
Vates Blue Curled. A slow bolting scotch type with finely
curled blue-green leaves. Hardy, short stemmed plants are 12-16
inches tall with 24 inch heads. Best if picked after a light frost.

Early White Vienna. Mild creamy white flesh; when cooked has
more delicate flavor than turnip. Edible bulb grows above the ground
and should be eaten when about 2-1/2 inches across. 55 days.
Large American Flag. Underused and overpriced in the US the
leek has long been a staple in European kitchens. The sweet, mild
onion flavor of leeks makes them a versatile addition to many
recipes. Leeks can be used as the key ingredient in foods or blended
without overpowering the other flavors in a dish. Leeks are a
heirloom that has been grown for literally hundreds of years. 120
days.
Black Seeded Simpson Leaf Lettuce. Black Seeded Simpson is
an old favorite - both because of it's flavor and because of it's
earliness. Large upright plants with large loose light green lightly
crumpled leaves. Inner leaves blanch almost white. Full sized leaves
can be harvested in just a little over a month and "greens" can be
harvested in three weeks. Withstands a lot of adverse conditions
including some drought, some frost, and some heat. 40 days.
Buttercrunch Butterhead Lettuce. All America Selections
Winner. Bibb type with 4.5 inch rosette heads that are heat and cold
tolerant. Mosaic free . Slow to bolt. Gourmet taste. 66 days.
Cimmaron Romaine Lettuce. Are you a Caesar salad fan? This romaine is worth trying. 10-12 inch deep-red heads with good flavor and crisp tender texture add color to your salad, extra cold and heat resistance adds length to your eating season and nice sweet taste adds flavor to your salad. Also a good container variety. 60 days.
Great Lakes 118 Head Lettuce. Popular in both the North and
the South because it produces quality heads during both cool and warm
weather. Large cabbage like heads with thick, broad, slightly
crumpled, glossy leaves. Scald and tipburn resistant. A sure header
that will overwinter in mild areas. 80 days.
Green Salad Bowl/Oakleaf Leaf Lettuce. Tender tasty leaves
are light green and oak leaf shaped. Tipburn and heat resistant. Will
not get bitter in hot weather. Very slow bolt. 40 days.
Iceberg Head Lettuce. Favorite home garden variety. Compact
med-large heads with crisp hearts. Light green leaves with waxy
bronze fringe. Tipburn and heat resistant. Does well in the East and

Little Gem Romaine Lettuce. Mini romaine grows only 6
inches tall. Perfect for individual salads with no waste. Delicious,
